When choosing a game system to write for, you need to understand the licensing of that game system.

Whilst many games have ‘Community Content Programmes‘ on sites like DriveThruRPG, those programmes are designed to publish for that game system solely on that platform. In other words, we cannot use those licenses in a multi-system product.

To help navigate this Sea of SRDs we have compiled a list of those we know about, and where appropriate we have also included any licenses associated. What follows is a working list from a variety of publishers of all sizes.

So wait, does that mean that content for games like Delta Green, Night’s Black Agents, Runequest and Savage Worlds can’t be published in Polyhedral Magazine?

Not quite.

  • If content is about those games, e.g. reviews, articles about how you prepped to run a campaign for that system or basically anything that doesn’t involve creating content FOR that game. In that case, we can publish that.

  • If content is an adventure or something that builds on the existing system, e.g. new monsters / items with the information presented using the mechanics or Intellectual Properties of that system. In that case, we currently cannot publish that without using a specific license to do so.
